Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura sings: hari hari viphale janama goṅāinu: “My dear Lord Kṛṣṇa, I have simply wasted

golokera prema-dhana, hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana, rati nā janmila kene tāya

“My dear Lord, You have given us the medicine of hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana, the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa.

They read many literatures that do not glorify the Supreme Lord Hari, and thus they waste their time.

prāpañcikatayā buddhyā hari-sambandhi-vastunaḥ mumukṣubhiḥ parityāgo vairāgyaṁ phalgu kathyate

However, the Vaiṣṇava says, prāpañcikatayā buddhyā hari-sambandhi-vastunaḥ.

Similarly, Haridāsa Ṭhākura, a Muhammadan by birth, was a very great devotee and was always chanting Haridāsa Ṭhākura mildly replied, “My dear sir, there are many Hindus who have become Muhammadans. The Kazi became very angry and ordered Haridāsa Ṭhākura to be whipped in twenty-two bazaars.

ataḥ pumbhir dvija-śreṣṭhā varṇāśrama-vibhāgaśaḥ sv-anuṣṭhitasya dharmasya saṁsiddhir hari-toṣaṇam

In addition, Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī in his Hari-bhakti-vilāsa recommends that one should not hear Bhagavad-gītā , the Purāṇas, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam or any hari-kathā from anyone who is not a Vaiṣṇava in his actions

Hari-kathā, talks about Śrī Hari, or Kṛṣṇa, are amṛta, nectar.

It is said, hariṁ vinā naiva sṛtiṁ taranti.

obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is a bona fide representative of Śrī Hari
