Prabhupāda: Technical knowledge is not education.

Prabhupāda: This is not education. Vidyā dadhāti namratā. Educated means he is humble, gentle, sober, full of knowledge, practical application in life of knowledge That is education. What is this education?

Jayādvaita: "This knowledge is the king of education..."

Education is merely book knowledge...

Prabhupāda: Etaj jñānam: these are knowledge. This is education. Then?

The knowledge of eating, sleeping, mating, defending, that is animal knowledge. Everyone knows it. How to eat, nobody requires any education. How to sleep, nobody requires any education. How to have sex life, nobody requires any education. How to defend, nobody requires education. They are not subject matter of education. Everyone knows it, how to do it. The modern education means they are on this subject matter. Just like that rascal, Freud?

So this is going on, but unfortunately modern universities, educational system, they do not know anything And still, they are very much proud of advancement of education. Actually, there is no education. Without this knowledge, spiritual knowledge, this education for earning bread—eating, sleeping, mating—that can be done without education. The animals, they are not educated.

Vidyā means education, and rāja means king. So what is the king of education? There are different grades of education. Now, what is the summum bonum, highest, topmost education? This topmost education is Kṛṣṇa consciousness, topmost education. Rāja-vidyā. Real knowledge is: "So what I am." This is real knowledge. Unless we come to this point, that "What I am," that is not knowledge.

Patel: People think so far this country is concerned that education means giving the knowledge of how I think it is the knowledge and not the education. Education is something different, that trains up your mind how to think, how to, I mean, separate grain

Prabhupāda: If you want to overcome all obstacles of life, this is the only education. That's all. Or if you have different aims of life, there are different departments of knowledge. But if you want this knowledge, then this is the education.

What is your education? What is your process of knowledge?

The most learned scholars, they have agreed that if you want to achieve knowledge, then you should study Limit of knowledge, limit of education, highest limit of education can be found in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam

developing, going through many species of life, many intelligent human forms of life by cultivating knowledge , education, when one comes to the limit of education and knowledge, he understands what is God. And to understand that knowledge, vidyā bhāgavatāvadhiḥ.

You say a person who has got education, still, he acts ridiculously. That means you have no knowledge what is education.

There is no educational system in the university what happens after death. There is no such educational system. The most defective education, because without this knowledge, what happens after death, without this knowledge, one who is dying without this knowledge, he's animal. He has no such knowledge.

Prabhupāda: Educational circles. Yes. In the education circles they are made fools. Education means he's a more fool, that's all. That is education. Mūḍha. Māyayāpahṛta-jñāna. These fools and rascals, their actual knowledge is taken away, and they are coming out as educated.

Those who are actually educated, they're called budhāḥ, "in full knowledge."

There are education, different types of education, different departmental education, but this is the best of the royal education. [break] ...so confidential and it is called rāja-vidyā, the king of knowledge? Pavitram. Not contaminated means not material knowledge. It is spiritual knowledge. Material knowledge is contaminated.

So anyone, however materially he may be advanced in education or knowledge, may be Ph.D. or D.H.C. or like that, if he does not believe in God, he is to be supposed that māyā has taken away his real knowledge In spite of his education, he is fool number one. Māyayāpahṛta-jñānāḥ.

Prabhupāda: But these four type of branches of education is not sufficient for human being. A human being, above all this education, must have the knowledge how to love God.
